PUBLIC HEARING December 13, 2010
Town Office Building - Common Room 7:00 P.M.
First Selectman Mailhos called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with the following in attendance: Selectmen Millix & Blessington, Lynn Nicholls, Director of Public Works, Willington Hill Fire Chief, Tom Snyder, President of W.H.F.D, Vincent Tougas, W.H.F.D. members and townspeople.
Willington Hill Fire Department presented the proposed truck for purchase at the final price of $475,000.00; which was the approved CIP amount. The truck will be leased and paid for with Emergency Services Reserve Fund monies, which are not collected by taxation, rather by insurance money collected by ambulance calls.
Lynn Nicholls presented a dump truck in the amount of $137,140.00 minus $13,000 from the private sale of the old dump truck; total cost of $124,140.00 and a pick up truck for Public Works in the amount of $32,495. This cost is derived from cost of truck at $32,670.00 with additional $1,750.00 for a plow package and $75.00 for mud flaps, minus $2,000 for the trade in of the old truck. Both Public Works vehicles, totaled at $156,635.00 are less than the approved CIP amount. Both of these will be leased as well.
Donna Latincsics, Business Manager talked about the process of bidding the leases. She also answered questions that were asked about the leasing options. Because the purchases will be leased, the annual payments will be part of future budgets and voted on each year.
First Selectman Mailhos commented that we will choose the lease option that makes the most sense for the total amount. We are hopeful that combining all purchases on one lease will get a better rate.
